Burns Antiphoner is a digital iteration of the Burns Antiphoner held in Boston College’s John J. Burns Library collections. The fourteenth-century illuminated manuscript antiphoner (from the Latin antiphonale, or antiphonarium, a book of antiphons) is a volume of monophonic chant—plainsong, or plainchant—originally used by male or female religious personnel for singing the divine office of the Roman Catholic church.
This project is a partnership between the Boston College Libraries and the Music Department in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences and was supported by an Academic Technology Innovation Grant.
